Riverine peoples

Riverine peoples are traditional people who live near rivers and are scale fishing as the main means of subsistence farming and small clearings for home consumption.They may also perform extraction activities.Traditional people, including the riverside, were recognized by Presidential Decree No. 6040, signed on February 7, 2007, in it the federal government acknowledged for the first time in history, the formal existence of all calls traditional populations.Over the six articles of the decree establishing the National Policy for Sustainable Development of Traditional Peoples and Communities (PNPCT), the government extends the recognition that had been done partly in the 1988 Constitution, indigenous and maroon.Thus, all public policies resulting from the officially PNPCT benefit all the traditional populations, including even faxinenses (planting mate and raise pigs), a community of "fund of grass", geraizeiros (inhabitants of the Wild), wetland caiçaras (fishermen sea), riparians, rubber tappers, Brazil nut, babassu nut breakers and Gypsies, among others.
